چکیده

We study a mathematical model treating of the dynamic contact line problem, supposed to describe the main features of the advancing triple line (rolling motion and variable contact angle) and to remove the singularity. The model is composed by a macroscopic hydrodynamic free surface flow model (HFSM) (Navier–Stokes) coupled with a mesoscopic local surface model (LSM). Detailed mathematical and numerical analysis of the 1D steady-state local surface model are done: existence and uniqueness of the exact and numerical solutions, extra properties of the derivatives, and convergence of finite element schemes. Some numerical results of the two models treated separately are presented for a 2D plunging tape configuration.

Numerical Simulation of Granular Column Collapses with Pressure-Dependent Viscoplastic Model using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamic Method

This paper presents a numerical analysis of granular column collapse phenomenon using a two-dimensional smoothed particle hydrodynamics model and a local constitutive law proposed by Jop et al. This constitutive law, which is based on the viscoplastic behaviour of dense granular material flows, is characterized by an apparent viscosity depending both on the local strain rate and the local press...

Enhanced Predictions of Tides and Surges through Data Assimilation (TECHNICAL NOTE)

The regional waters in Singapore Strait are characterized by complex hydrodynamic phenomena as a result of the combined effect of three large water bodies viz. the South China Sea, the Andaman Sea, and the Java Sea. This leads to anomalies in water levels and generates residual currents. Numerical hydrodynamic models are generally used for predicting water levels in the ocean and seas. But thei...

Numerical simulation of the Marangoni e#ect on mass transfer to single slowly moving drops in the liquid–liquid system

The Marangoni e#ect is a frequently observed phenomenon of enhancement of interphase mass transfer in liquid–liquid systems. Such an e#ect, originating from the hydrodynamic instability induced by surface tension sensitivity to surface concentration of transferred solute, is mathematically formulated and numerically simulated for slowly moving single spherical drops in an axisymmetric boundary-...

The effect of hydrodynamic pressure of the dam reservoir caused by the earthquake on the results of 3D dynamic analysis of concrete face rockfill dams

Concrete faced rockfill dams (CFRDs) are among the structures that due to their advantages such ease of construction and low execution costs, have attracted more attention nowadays.Due to the fact that during large earthquakes, the hydrodynamic pressure will be large and cannot be ignored, the main purpose of this research is to apply reservoir hydrodynamic pressure of dam reservoir caused by the ...

مدل سازی رسوب گذاری در خور بوشهر با استفاده از نرم افزار21 MIKE

Estimation of siltation depth in harbors and estuaries plays an important role in design of marine structures. In this paper, siltation process at Bushehr estuary as one of the most important water bodies in south of Iran is modeled by so-called MIKE 21 mathematical model. To achieve this, at first a large scale hydrodynamic model calibrated by IRANSIAM registered water levels is developed whil...
